Nagarkot is being more and more popular to the tourists as well as locals. These days Nagarkot offers from economic to deluxe hotel and other tourists facilities. It is situated at an elevation of 2100m and is famous for getting a panoramic mountain view and sunrise seeing over the Himalaya . The trek start with an hour drive to Sundarijal and trek uphill to Chisopani then the trail goes through the forests and villages to Nagarkot.
Just east of Kathmandu valley located on the top of the hill. The Gomba celebrates an event in one of the legendary previous lives of the historical Buddha, in which he encountered a starving tigress about to devour a small child, and moved by compassion, offered his own flesh to her - a sacrifice that helped pave the way for his eventual enlightenment.
Shivapuri at an elevation 2732m. offers excellent views of the Himalayas off to the wet from Jugal and Ganesh Himal to Himalchuli and eastwards from Langtang to Dorje Lapka and of course intense rhododendron blossoms in spring. It lies within the Shivapuri Watershed and wildlife reserve; a huge walled area set aside to protect the valley's water supply and dense forests.
